Spent too much time today battling Malware which had managed to evade Spybot! I was getting MS windows style alerts that Malware was slowing my machine. Closing the pop up immediately took me to a web site for Anti SpyWare Knight – I immediatley closed the Firefox tab and did a search on the said Knight. This is the malware and the spoof popups are to trick you into downloading the very Malware they claim to protect against.
After consulting the Spybot forums I decided to run the Trend Micro House Call which found 3 miscreants POSSIBLE_SCRDL, TROJ_GYPKON.C and TROJ_FRAUDLOA.CR and after deleting them and rebooting the pop ops are gone. I will surely be looking at Trend Micro again.
